Belchertown celebrates America's 250th and the return of our town Fireworks on Thursday, September 24th, the evening before the Belchertown Fair!
Join us at the Chestnut Hill Recreation Area (59 State Street) from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for an evening with food trucks, music, historical reenactors, kids activities, and fireworks lighting up the sky to close it out.
The Town is expecting a big turnout for this event and parking will be available at several lots. Carpooling is encouraged and a map will be available on the Town website in the next few weeks. Volunteers will be helping direct cars to parking spaces and collecting a $5 donation to support next year’s fireworks. The center of activity prior to the Fireworks Display will be at the Pavilion next to Jessica's Playground.
A detailed program for our local US 250th celebration, "Red, White & Belchertown," will also be available on the Town website in coming weeks. Watch for details about a musket fire salute to honor Belchertown’s Revolutionary War veterans, a “Happy Birthday America” banner activity for kids, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, music to celebrate America and Belchertown, cupcakes, and more!
This event would not be possible without the immense support of community partners. The Fireworks Display is possible because of generous donations by Window World, TruNorth Bank (bankESB), Country Bank, and Hulmes Transportation. The US 250 programming is being supported by the work and generosity of the US 250 Task Force and partners, including the Historical Commission, the Stone House Museum, the Clapp Memorial Library, the Betty Allen Chapter of NSDAR, the Pomeroy Chapter of MASSAR, Pathfinder Tech, Theatrix, Antonio’s Pizza by the Slice, and others. Thanks to them, and thanks also to the Recreation Department, Select Board, and many Town staff and volunteers who are bringing the logistics together for this celebratory evening.
A rain date for this event is set for Friday, October 9th. If you have any questions or want to volunteer on the 24th, you can reply to this email and the newsletter team will put you in touch with the organizers.
