Explore the art of realistic watercolor painting in this hands-on course designed just for teens! Learn how to bring your drawings and ideas to life through the expressive and sometimes unpredictable medium of watercolor. Under the guidance of Elizabeth Teixeira—a professional watercolor artist and licensed Visual Arts educator with over 22 years of teaching experience—you’ll develop strong foundational skills while discovering your own creative style.
Students will experiment with techniques for blending color, creating texture, and controlling water and pigment to achieve realistic effects. Each class includes step-by-step demonstrations, guided practice, and time to work on individual projects. You’ll gain confidence in using watercolor to capture light, detail, and depth—skills that can enhance both personal artwork and future portfolio pieces.
Whether you’re new to watercolor or ready to take your skills to the next level, this class offers a supportive studio environment where creativity and technique come together.

Belchertown High School, Art Room 219-Jabish Brook students may take the bus to the High School.

  • Deadline date is 10 days prior to the start of the program.
  • A $10.00 late fee applies to all registrations after the deadline

Instructor
  • Elizabeth Teixeira is an accomplished artist and educator with over 22 years of experience teaching Visual Arts in Massachusetts public schools. She holds a Master’s Degree in Art Education from the University of Massachusetts and maintains Massachusetts DESE licensure in Visual Arts. In addition to her extensive classroom experience, Elizabeth has taught private lessons and workshops for students of all ages, fostering creativity and confidence through personalized instruction.
  • As a practicing artist, Elizabeth specializes in realistic watercolor painting, mastering the medium’s delicate balance of control and spontaneity. Her work reflects a deep understanding of light, color, and detail—hallmarks of her refined technique. She brings this expertise into her teaching, guiding students in developing strong foundational skills while encouraging their own artistic expression.
